Nawal's Birthday

14th May 2009. A friend asked me if I can take last minute order - a simple chocolate cake will do. Hmm ok, I said thinking that I only need to buy eggs and cooking chocolate ...
I have gone home earlier than usual, went to my convenient Pasaraya TTDI to buy the two things.

What surprised me when I reached home is that I just realized-- I'm short of another major ingredients. My other half have used my box full of cream to make his banana shake !! O no! So I called Mak asking for alternative and guess what? She was at One U ... fuhhhh Alhamdullillah... As always, Mak -- the SuperMom, helped me in distress

Started at 8.30pm and completed only at 3am ... all because of the unsightly spot at a side of the cake. Trying all kind of deco to cover it up ... Then finally decided to add the golden sugar balls by the side..

Belek punya belek siap juga akhirnya. My first chocolate cake sold .. he he Hope you girls like it. Next time probably I can make prettier deco :)

Ad Din & Lin's Birthday

17th May 2009. My sister-in-law's birthday, Lin is a day earlier than my youngest son, Ad Din, who turned 1 last 15th May 2009. Mak suggested that we make some simple makan-makan to celebrate these two birthday gal & boy.

So Sunday night was the makan-makan, planned as such that Lin would be back from work. A very simple dinner. Chicken Rice with Pie Tee and for the dessert; my chocolate cupcakes; and of course the ready made birthday cakes - with added decorations and writings.

The top from Zura's class and bottom from Ina's class --- he he he killing two birds with one stone. You can see the glasses in between -- they are the subsitute pillars :)

"Have a good year ahead, may Allah bless and protect both of you ... WE LOVE YOU TWO"

Winnie The Pooh

20th May 2009. Siti has been telling me that she is longing to have a piece of her orange cake, but her health conditions forbids. Her recipe is proven good so I volunteer baking it for her --- in return of the famous recipe.

Baked the cake on 150C ; used a bake even strip but still the mid part cooked very slow. Its 30 min and it still wet! So I lower down the temparature and extend for another 10 minutes.

Hmm luckily it did not burn and all parts were cooked nicely. I made extra in half full 3 cups -- and tasted them. Not bad ...

Well since I have a cake so why not decorate it ---So, what would be nicer on an orange cake than the sweet Winnie The Pooh :)

Barney & Friends Came to Flora

16th May 2009. Today is supposedly to be my son's birthday party but was postponed to Sunday instead to combine with my sister-in-law's birthday. So quickly I called Cake Connection if there is any extra seat for the figurines class. And yes! There is one left.

So off I go bringing my 'toolkit' anxiously wanting to learn how to make Cookie Monster. The instructor is young lady by the name of Ina. Very sweet lady who looks like my friend Kampong Yan Corp - Yati. She showed us her work .. and wow! We were so impressed!

Started with Barney .. err only two pass with excellent points, the rest of us ... ha ha as you can see mine , the nose is not actually right. Then we did Baby Bob, BJ and the rest ... O dear no wonder these things are so expensive, cost at about RM 35 for one big figurine, its so detail and took such a long time to complete one.

Through out the class we can hear the sounds of 'ooooppp' .. 'o no!' ...'sigh.... susahnya' but Ina was so patiently guiding us one by one. She keep saying it's not difficult ... hmmm well for big fingers like mine ... it's not as easy as said.

Anyway I am glad that I went for this class ... Now I have 6 decorated cupcakes for Ad'Din's birthday tomorrow he he he
